This essay by Michael Chabon, originally from the NYT Book Review, decides it's horror, but seeing how Chabon reached that conclusion is an enjoyable read.

Thanks Deirdre, I look forward to reading this. And yes, I also love Michael Chabon...his fiction, non fiction, all of it - isn't he doing something with movies too? Oh, and to top it off - he's a fan of Dr. Who :)
